New Mission Page

What This Page Does

Creates a new Mission with details, volunteer setup, operations settings, map points, optional logistics planning, searchable requirements, Program Leader contact defaults, image-capable description content, Launch AI Assist shift weather summaries, Galaxy AI shift drafting, and visibility. ICS planning fields appear only when Requires ICS / Incident Command is enabled for an eligible Disaster Response / Emergency Management Program.

How To Use This Page

  1. Open New Mission.
  2. Add Mission details, program, Location Address, Mission type, participation options, shifts, suggested requirements, and volunteer-facing operations settings.
  3. In Location Address, type a street address or venue name and choose an address suggestion so the saved Mission location includes the building number, city, state, and ZIP when the lookup provider returns them.
  4. For new Missions, use Start faster with a Mission template after the program is selected to prefill from saved templates or the selected Program model's starter templates. Template coverage signals show whether the template can fill most setup fields, including requirements, contact, and participation rules.
  5. Use Edit templates next to the template picker when the saved templates themselves need to be created, renamed, refreshed, or deleted in the Program Template Builder.
  6. For Launch-plan organizations and higher, use AI Assist shift weather after adding a Location Address and dated shifts to review hourly forecast guidance before publishing or messaging volunteers.
  7. For Galaxy-plan organizations, use Galaxy AI shift draft to describe shift dates, time ranges, and capacity naturally, then review and add the drafted shift rows before saving.
  8. Use the description editor for text, links, and embedded image URLs when volunteers need maps, flyers, diagrams, or visual instructions.
  9. Review Mission Operations after choosing a program; contact name, email, and phone default from the Program Leader when available and can still be edited.
  10. Review Volunteer Requirements after the template is applied. AidOrbit auto-fills matching requirement suggestions for blank drafts and lets staff apply additional qualification or waiver suggestions from the selected template, Program model, or Mission type.
  11. Use Mission Map after Location Address is set; new Missions start with a clean map centered on that address instead of inheriting existing program pins.
  12. Add only the check-in, parking, supplies, animal intake, water, restroom, route, or geofence markers that apply to this Mission.
  13. Use Logistics after saving when the Mission needs supply, staging, transportation, facility, issue/return, or shortage tracking.
  14. Leave Requires ICS / Incident Command off for routine programs such as pet shelter volunteer shifts.
  15. Enable Requires ICS / Incident Command only when the selected Program is a Disaster Response / Emergency Management Program and the Mission needs ICS forms, COMU tools, command structure, and incident-action planning fields.
  16. Save a draft or publish after required general Mission fields are complete.
